BLOMSTERBO SPA

Beautifully situated on the high hills of the Bjäre peninsula in northwest Scania, overlooking Kullaberg and Hallands Väderö island, this old stable building has been housing cars instead of horses for the past decades. The new owners wish to convert the currently empty attic into a home spa, engaging Albert Orrling Architecture as architect and project leader.

The proposal, currently in the building permit process, adds a large dormer on each side of the roof, creating a warm, intimate space with a wooden interior inspired by Japanese onsen bath houses. A sauna with great views of the coast, a spa room with a recessed wooden bathtub and foot-bath, and a fireplace at the heart of the space.
